[Kelvin-users] Cluster downtime, August 30th & 31st 2016

Dear all,

The upgrade works have completed and access to the Kelvin, Lonsdale and
Parsons clusters is restored. The queues are open and processing jobs
again.

Unfortunately during the upgrade an incompatibility between the kernel,
parallel file system and the gscratch hardware was encountered which
resulted in the loss of all data in gscratch. We apologise for any
inconvenience this unforeseen problem may cause.

We would also like to re-emphasize our data policy that gscratch is an
"at risk" file system which should only be used for transient files,
