Dear user,

Apologies to those who receive this email more than once.

TCHPC are currently installing and commissioning the new eINIS cluster
(to be called Kelvin). This 1200 core system will become available to
all computational researchers throughout Ireland in the new year through
an application system similar to ICHEC's class B projects.

In order to accomodate this new system, parts of the old IITAC cluster
have been taken offline. Users may have noticed an increase in queue
times on IITAC and periods of instability. Once Kelvin has been fully
installed we will be working to increase the number of IITAC nodes that
are in service.

As part of the Kelvin install we will also be upgrading the Storage
System by increasing the number of IO nodes and moving the interconnect
from DDR Infiniband to QDR. This will involve a period of complete
downtime for all clusters that use the shared GPFS storage - IITAC,
Lonsdale and Parsons and we are scheduling that for the week starting
20th December. The clusters will be back online in time to allow people
to submit jobs to run over the holiday break.

We apologise for any inconvenice these activites cause. Please email
any queries to ops at tchpc.tcd.ie
